Sunday was a very well supported summer series for Herts, With 7 full heats meant for a long day but very competitive. The track was spot on, dust free & a pleasure to race on so thanks to all those involved as your hard work is now paying off giving you one of the best tracks in the UK..
The track being open for an hour first thing for practice was great & an opportunity to blow out the cob webs, also gave a chance to test some ideas.
During practice the car felt good although a little aggressive on the steering so a change to a thicker front roll bar calmed that down a bit for the start of qualifying.
Rnd 1 A clean run & mistake free rewarded me with 2nd in round but car still felt squirmy, there was more pace yet to be found so more tinkering. A great battle with Tommy till the end made for an entertaining run & some pointers of where I could pick up some pace. A piston & oil change would calm it down over the bumps & got me set for the next round.
Rnd 2 & a nice bit of track space was found, the changes made gave a better feel although a little light for what I wanted to achieve. The pace was good & set for another top 3 finish when for a bizarre reason just cut, totally baffled as temp was spot on plug was good & plenty of fuel.
Rnd 3 an increase in rear oil thickness & spring change gave the feel I wanted, a tyre change gave the balance a nice feel so all set again. Every thing about the run was good, grip, corner balance & feel over the bumps. Engine ran well when bizarrely the gremlin returned at exactly the same point on the track & cut again, best I speak with an RB expert because I'm lost at that one. Gutted as run was mistake free & laps where quickest of the day till that point doh!.
After chatting with Mr Thompson event was due to finish near 6 o'clock so called it a day as a night shift loomed & did not have enough time booked of work to get back in time. Way it goes but roll on srs as cars good & old Mr reliable OS will be back in

.
Till next time.
