Hi,

Does anyone know or have any suggestions what glow plug should be used with a Picco P3 Basic?? Its the .21 size thats about 70 to 80 quids worth. I believe it uses standard plugs. I was told at a previous meeting by a guy using this engine he used a number 6 plug but im not sure what make it was!?

Is there a particular brand i should use?

Each brand seems to differ slightly. one says 4-5 is a cold plug and others say 6-8 are cold? Huh A little unsure?!

Looked on shop sites and ebay etc and it doesnt look like Picco plugs are available?

Thinking about it maybe it will say in the instructions when the engine turns up! Tongue

Any ideas?? Smiley

Stot has run these for a while.  I don't know much about them but believe it is recommended to use sealent on the engines to seal the backplate etc as they are prone to airleaks.  I'll txt him and see if he can pop by this forum and give you some info. If you do seal the backplate, make sure this piston isn't at bottom dead centre or you may damage the piston skirt removing it.

Ok fella i sealed up the back plate and carb rubber on mine i was going to run RB no 6 normal plugs (but i did have a few of these kicking around) but i spoke to Stot before i bought the engine and he recommended no 6 . I never got to run the engine, as i was given a sirio to run instead but they seem very good indeed i hope this helps  Wink

i  run  std  rb or  nova  rosi  no 6  or  no 5  depending on whats  around

i  seal  carb  and  backplate  as  a  lot  do  with most  engines  the  back  plate  needs  the  screws  nipping  up  after  a  couple  of  liters  as they bed  into  the  plastic  apart  from  that  their  great  little engines   they  run  hot  to  the  touch due  to the  really  solid  head .  mine  seem  to  like  to  be  run  fairly rich  on  bottom  end..   current  one  is  6  and  half  gallon  now  gotta  blow  shortly..  newer  one  one  and  a half

for  the  money i  cant  find  a  better  lump  they  prople  me  alomg  at  a  fair  rate  i  just  need to  learn  to  drive  now lol..  if  its  one  with the  plastic   ball  end  on  barb  then  be  gentle  with  it  also  make  sure  you  nip  up  the carb  pinch bolt  good  n  tight

i  run  25 % race prep  fuel

any  probs  fire  away

Thanks alot guys, much appriciated!!

An RB/Rossi No6 it is then!!

Ill defo seal up the carb and back plate before i run it in! Should arrive tommorrow fingers crossed, gives me plenty of time to get it run in before next meeting, gonna go with 25% nitro this time and put a bit less stress on it than the 30%

Cheers for the help, ill feedback on how it goes!! Roll Eyes

The engine is superb!!

Ran in with ease, tuned with ease and it ran really really well!! No its not the same build quality as the v spec but overall its so much better and for the price being less than £80 i cant see why you would need to spend anymore!!! I would rather buy 3 of these for a season instead of 1 expensive one!! It was keeping up with ease with the others if not faster, and im sure if in the right hands would get top results to!!

The P3 gets a big thumbs up from me!!! Grin

If your new to the hobby then look no further!! Picco P3 is the one!!
