Upon arriving at just after 6am wow what a long day its going to be having been up since 3am. The track is all ready for the 2 day meeting and looking superb

The format for the first day is as follows 1 round of timed Practice then onto 5 rounds of Qualifying no international drivers in attendance this yea a bit of a shame that last years winner Ryan Lutz did not return to defend his crown. But with a vastly experienced field in attendance we can certainly expect some very good racing indeed.
Shortly after Race Briefing the first heat for practice hit the track still warming up from its nights slumber. The smell of nitro in the morning it simply cannot be beaten. Seeing some familiar faces again and resident Piraterc "Team Mugen Driver Sam Taylor" who has as he put it joined the seniors class and will be racing a Mugen Truggy as well as Rallycross. I am apparently going to teach him how to drive a truggy is he serious!!
I have setup camp with some good friends namely Brennan Ralls, Arron Davison, Lee Taylor, Andy Taylor, Steve Webb, and Jason Dixon. Somehow I have managed to aquire a top pitman / car mechanic for the event "Brennan Ralls" whoo how cool is that! Steve finally got his hands on a Xray 808.

Well with round one and two out the way and now a thing of the past we have some details of who is who in the 2008 Panther Cup the racing is fast and furious. Seeing some fantastic driving by the top guys with Darren Bloomfield and Simon Willetts the only 2 drivers to hit 9 laps after round 1.

Well what a great days racing it was a true test of skill as the heavens decided to grace us with some rain this afternoon and it was just in time for the truggy heat to take to the track. And if you can imagine drifting to the extreme well that's what the truggy heat looked like as they were sliding all over the track and giving much amusement to the crowd and pit crew.

The following rallycross heat managed to switch there tyres to the preferred wet control tyres allowing them to maintain as much traction as possible on the astro turf surface that can resemble driving on glass if you get the tyre choice wrong.

We had a chat with Glyn Morgan who has been running race control all day

Piraterc: how has day one of the 2008 Panther cup been from your perspective?

Glyn: It was execlent day, good start to the 2 day event loads of fun really enjoyed thanx to the team and drivers.
