AKA Winter Series

Round one of the 2008/2009 AKA Winter Series got off to a flying start with no less than 71 drivers making the trip to DRT. This was set to be a no walk in the park race meeting for anyone as the level of driver in attendance was fantastic. To name a few we had "Mike Cradock Kyosho MP9, Brennan Ralls Xray 808, Sam Taylor Mugen MBX6, Elliot Boots Mugen MBX6, Tommy Chung Kyosho MP9, Kevin Brunsden Xray 808 and Reece Sawyer Kyosho MP9"

The first round got underway and with a slightly damp surface the guys were laying down the laps and having fun round 2 saw the cars getting faster as racers altered there setups to suit the conditions but this was to be the start of a turning point in the day as the racing gods decided that we would like to race in the rain again "Just For a Change" and it started with gentle rain but very quickly turning to what seemed to be a mini tropical downpour for round 3

Elliot Boots was taking no prisoners and took TQ overall for the day with his RB powered Mugen Mbx6  followed by Sam Taylor in 2nd with his Novarossi powered Mugen MBX6  and Mike Cradock in 3rd with his Sirio powered Kyosho MP9.

With the rain moving on to new pastures during the lunch break it was onto finals on the now wet surface

A Main Rallycross

Cars to line and under starters orders were off and Elliot Boots leading the pack of chasing racers with the usual first corner carnage throwing a wrench into some drivers race plans we saw Brennan Ralls find a great window of opportunity to sneak into 3rd place from 8th on the grid. So for lap one the running order was Elliot Boots out in the lead followed by Sam Taylor in 2nd place and Brennan Ralls in 3rd followed closely by Mike Cradock in 4th.

Lap 2 saw Brennan and Mike swap positions with Elliot still out front followed by Sam  in 2nd on Lap 4 saw the lead change and we had Mike Cradock out front with Sam Taylor in 2nd and Brennan Ralls in 3rd with Elliot dropping down to 6th place. Lap 5 we had a new race leader and this time it was Brennan Ralls out front followed by Sam Taylor in 2nd place and Mark Gregory running in 3rd.

Lap 6 saw the lead change yet again with Sam Taylor now out in front followed by Brennan Ralls in 2nd and Elliot Boots in 3rd. Onto Lap 7 and yet again a new race leader with Brennan Ralls now taking the no 1 spot followed by Elliot Boots in 2nd and Matt Ruben in 3rd.

Lap 8 with Brennan Ralls still running out front in the number one spot we had Matt Ruben hot on his heels in 2nd place and now Mike Cradock in 3rd Lap Lap 10 and a new race leader with Matt Ruben out in front followed by Brennan Ralls  in 2nd and Elliot Boots now running in the 3rd spot.

Lap 13 and Elliot Boots regaining the lead and running strong followed by Brennan Ralls in 2nd place and Sam Taylor in 3rd with Mike Cradock running in the number 4 spot Lap 20 we saw Mike Cradock pass Sam Taylor to take the no 3 spot with Elliot still out front and Brennan Ralls running 2nd. This was to be the running order to the line.

Truggy A-Main

Matt Reuben taking pole for the day in the truggy class was beaten to the line on lap 1 by Russell Smith so the running order on lap 1 was to be Russell Smith followed by Matt Reuben in 2nd and Steve Martin in 3rd. Lap 2 saw Matt Reuben retake the lead from Russell Smith who was now running 2nd and Steve Martin in 3rd. These 3 drivers held onto there running positions until Lap 9 when Steve Martin moved up into 2nd place and Russell Smith dropped back to 3rd place. Matt Reuben still running very strong out in front.

Lap 11 saw a new entry to the running order with Matt Reuben out in front Russell Smith in 2nd and Ben Moore who had been chasing down the top 3 moving up into 3rd place. Lap 13 saw Steve Martin find a way past Ben Moore to retake 3rd place. On lap 16 with Matt Reuben still out in the no one spot we saw Russell Smith drop to 3rd place and Steve Martin move up into 2nd place with Ben Moore running in 4th.

Ben soon found a way past Russell Smith and moved back into 3rd place. In the last lap of the race a big push from Ben Moore who had been running in the 3rd spot he managed to find some space and moved past Steve Martin into 2nd place. As the Mud settled the race victors was Matt Reuben in 1st followed home by Ben Moore in 2nd and Steve Martin in 3rd.
