Ryan Maifield had the new Reedy engine with machined head.

The second installment from Dave Duggan's 1/8th World Championship race diary and the competition is just hotting up.

Wednesday 17th
Qualifying started today in wet conditions similar to that of the practice sessions. What seemed a touch unfair was that the guys who went out yesterday and actually attempted a run were seeded in the early heats and were to inherit the worst of the conditions! Both Neil and Graham were affected badly, with Neil in heat 1 and Graham in heat 2. Neither driver completed the first round as the conditions were severe in the least, in fact only 2 cars from the first 3 heats in total completed a 10 minute run. The best that could be said was that it wasn’t actually raining and the forecast was good from here on in. Naturally as the round progressed the track got faster and faster and the times came down.

Buggy's: The New Losi 1/8 8IGHT 2.0 4WD Buggy Race Roller (1406 Reads)

Team Losi

1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 4WD Buggy Race Rolle

2008 IFMAR 1/8 Buggy Worlds' Top Qualifier

At a Glance

The 1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 4WD Buggy Race Roller features over thirty revisions and improvements to the revolutionary 8IGHT buggy chassis. The 8IGHT 2.0 Buggy proved to be the fastest buggy in qualifying by taking Top Qualifying honors at the 2008 IFMAR 1/8 Buggy World Championships.

The chassis on the 8IGHT 2.0 has been extended an additional 2mm to provide increased stability and speed. The chassis’ Tuned Flex Technology provides significant handling gains by responding precisely to changes in the terrain without sacrificing balance and grip. Steel chassis droop stops have also been added to ensure consistent down stop settings.

The 8IGHT 2.0 includes updated steering geometry which features a servo saver with increased consistency. Additional gains in steering precision were made by incorporating a pressed-steel bushing in the Ackerman brace, which reduces friction over the entire range of motion. The suspension on the 8IGHT 2.0 allows for customization with numerous shock mounting locations, two camber link positions on the front carrier and four on the rear.
